When people talk about making money from home, they usually think about starting a business, creating content, or learning a new skill.
But what if one of the easiest ways to make extra money is already sitting in your home?
Before I ever started exploring other income opportunities, I learned an important lesson:
One person's clutter is another person's treasure.
Most of us have things around the house that we no longer use.
Clothes the kids have outgrown.
Toys that have been forgotten.
Kitchen gadgets collecting dust.
Furniture we no longer need.
Home décor that no longer matches our style.
Instead of letting those items take up space, why not turn them into cash?
Why Facebook Marketplace Is So Underrated
Facebook Marketplace is one of my favorite places to sell because most people already have a Facebook account.
There's no need to build a website.
No need to create a business.
No special skills required.
You simply take a few photos, write a description, set a price, and list the item.
Thousands of people browse Marketplace every day looking for exactly what you're trying to get rid of.
Kids' Clothes Are Always in Demand
If you're a mom, this is probably one of the easiest places to start.
Children outgrow clothes so quickly.
Many parents would rather buy gently used clothing than spend full price at the store.
Instead of selling one item at a time, try bundling clothes together by:
Size
Season
Gender
Type of clothing
For example:
"Girls Size 5 Summer Clothing Bundle"
or
"Baby Boy Winter Clothes 6–9 Months"
Bundles often sell faster and help you clear space more quickly.
Don't Forget Toys
Kids lose interest in toys long before the toys wear out.
Walk through your playroom and you'll probably find:
Dolls
Action figures
Ride-on toys
Educational toys
Building blocks
Outdoor toys
Many parents search Marketplace specifically for affordable toys.
Kitchen Items Sell Surprisingly Well
Take a look inside your kitchen cabinets.
Do you have:
A bread maker you never use?
An extra coffee machine?
A slow cooker collecting dust?
Duplicate kitchen gadgets?
People love finding good deals on kitchen items.
What feels like clutter to you could be exactly what someone else is searching for.
Real Things I've Sold From Around My House
One of the reasons I love Facebook Marketplace is that you don't need inventory to get started.
I didn't go out and buy products to resell. I simply looked around my home and listed things we no longer needed.
Here are a few items I've recently sold:
✓ A Cuisinart sandwich maker that I hadn't used in years $5 ( I could have sold it for more )
✓ My son's old diaper bag after he outgrew the baby stage $5
✓ A stroller that was no longer being used $50
✓ My daughter's bicycle after she upgraded to a new one $10
✓ My son's toddler tricycle $2
✓ A cup holder that had been sitting around unused $10
None of these items were making me money while they sat in my garage, closet, or storage room.
But once I listed them on Facebook Marketplace, they turned into extra cash.
That's why I always tell moms to start by looking around their own homes.
You don't have to start a business overnight.
Sometimes your first $20, $50, or even $100 is hiding in items you already own.
Small Amounts Add Up Quickly
Many people ignore Marketplace because they think:
"It's only $10."
"It's only $20."
"It's only $30."
But imagine selling:
A toy for $15
A bundle of clothes for $25
A kitchen gadget for $20
An old side table for $40
That's already $100 from items you weren't using.
And unlike many income opportunities, you don't need to invest money to get started.
More Than Just Extra Cash
Another thing I love about reselling is that it helps in two ways.
You make money.
And you create more space in your home.
Less clutter.
More organization.
Extra cash in your pocket.
That's a win-win.
Start With What You Already Have
If you're looking for a simple way to make extra income from home, don't overlook Facebook Marketplace.
Take a walk through your house today.
Open a closet.
Check the garage.
Look through the toy room.
You may be surprised by how much value is already sitting in your home.
Sometimes the easiest opportunities aren't hidden online.
They're hiding in plain sight.
